Reflexive Verbs
Purpose: Reflexive verbs imply action done by oneself unto oneself. For example, their is a difference in brushing the hair of your sister versus brushing your own hair.
Usage: Reflexive verbs are usually used in the context of routine or daily action. However, some verbs take on nuanced meanings in the reflexive form. Conjugation: Fortunately, conjugating reflexive verbs is relatively easy. Simply detach the pronoun suffix (me/te/se/le/les) and place it before the regular conjugated form of that verb. Take a look below for some examples. Steps for Conjugation: 1. Separate the "se" (or other pronoun) from the infinitive verb. Ex. For lavarse, seperate se and lavar. 2. Write the "se" in front of the infinitive 3. Conjugate the infinitive verb normally according to the subject Ex. se lava 4. Conjugate the se - the reflexive pronoun - to correspond to the subject. |
